Meeting today, Weds 8th March

We're meeting today, Wednesday 8th March at Manchester Carers Centre from 6 - 7:30pm. 

We don't have any speakers booked so it's a chance for us to have a relaxed evening talking through any issues we'd like to raise.

Bridge5Mill is easy to get to from the city centre - it's 5 minutes walk from Holt Town metrolink stop. There is parking on most streets around the Mill from 6pm.

Directions for travelling by tram, on foot, by bike, bus and car are all available on the Bridge 5 Mill website here http://www.merci.org.uk/drupal/visiting. As car parking isn't free until 6pm, as ever you're welcome to stroll in after 6 so you can get parked up without any bother.

Park House relocation transport update

As readers of this blog may know, Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust is in the process of relocating psychiatric inpatient services from Edale House at the Central Manchester Hospital (MRI) site to Park House at North Manchester General Hospital. We've always been concerned about the impact that this move will have on carers and service users in terms of increased transport times. A representative from the Trust came to our meeting last month to update us on plans for transport and the Trust's latest newsletter contains the following update on the service user and carer transport sub-group: "The group last met on 6 February and it was decided that another visitor questionnaire should be undertaken to make sure that we make the right  decisions about transport.  It was also agreed that more engagement and       communication with service users is necessary and  the service users and carers who attend the meetings will support this....

Our meeting this Weds 11th March

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 11th March starting at 6pm for tea, coffee and biccies, and ending at 8pm. Lauren Bate, our Rethink link, will be coming along to our group this Wednesday. We want you to tell us what you get out of the group and what would you like to see more of. If you are travelling by public transport, Manchester Carers Centre is directly across the road from the New Islington Metrolink stop (Droylsden Line). It’s one tram stop from Piccadilly train station. Some of us meet at Piccadilly station by the taxi rank at 5.30 and head up together. Text Lindsey on 07757 082 976 so we know to wait for you. If you are travelling by car, free parking is available on Pollard Street from 6pm.
