Free workshop for female mental health service users

The Centre for Women's Mental Health in the University of Manchester are offering a FREE half day workshop for female mental health service users who wish to improve their knowledge about sexual and reproductive health matters and their interaction with mental health. Participants will be introduced to an innovative online resource (www.scie.org.uk/publications/elearning/sexualhealth/index.asp), and provided with opportunities to reflect critically on these matters drawing on their own experience.
 
The workshop will run on Friday 19 April 2013, 9.45am-2.00pm, at the University of Manchester, Manchester M13 9PL.

Our group is developing our partnership with the Manchester Carers Centre (Carers Trust) to provide a confidential support group for carers. It will be an opportunity for carers to share their experiences in confidence with other carers of those who have a mental or physical illness. A carer can be anyone who cares for or about someone and can be a partner, sibling, family member, friend, colleague, neighbour etc. We will keep you informed about when this new service will start.

Mental Health Screening in Police Custody: Recruiting for Research project

The main aim of the project is to improve current practices surrounding the identification of mental health problems for people in contact with the police, through increasing access to timely and appropriate referral to mental health professionals . The project focuses on the gap in police access to mental health services on the evenings and weekends when there is a high turnover of people through custody. The project is a collaboration between the Offender Health Research Network, University of Manchester and LancashireCare NHS Foundation Trust.
